The People of Free Cast
Colin Laver- Founder, head designer, and production manager for Free Cast. Colin began his entrepeneurial career by starting his own plumbing and heating business in his native Wales. Only 24 years old at the time, Colin was desperate to succeed, so his approach was to give an honest estimate and then go above and beyond the call of duty to service the project and the customer. Honesty and service were the key and Colin's reputation grew. Soon the firm that bore his name had grown and was frequently taking jobs from established compeditors, even when those compeditors offered the customer a cheaper estimate. Colin's dedication to fair trade and customer service rapidly built a million dollar business with 14 employees.Colin was sucessful in Wales but he wanted more for his family and he decided to move them to Canada. In 1983 he sold the firm that still bears his name to a close friend and moved the family to beautiful Penticton BC. In seeking business opportunities in Penticton, Colin settled on buying and then renovating the run down 25 room Golden Shores Motel. Through typical dedication, hard work and the use of beautiful Architectural Plaster Treatments in every room, Colin and his family turned the delapidated Golden Shores Motel into the luxury 48 room condominium/resort renamed The Tiki Shores. The use of Crown Mouldings and Plaster Alcoves were a key design element in the rehabilitation of the Golden Shores Motel and the treatment so impressed the Tiki Shores guests that in 1994 Colin returned home to England to research the business potential of this beautiful product. In England and Europe Crown Mouldings, Friezes, Pilasters and all other Plaster Treatments were and are incredibly popular design elements in most homes and when Colin returned to Penticton he immediatly started Plastercraft Architectural Mouldings, later renamed Freecast Ventures Inc., to create, produce and install Custom Architectural Plaster Mouldings for the Canadian market.

Deanne now handles administration, marketing and sales for Free Cast, helping them create effective marketing tools and technical assistance.
